In a “Facebook/Twitter World” why would anyone want to give their email address? I know! Here’s a few reasons why you might consider it: (1) I will NEVER abuse it!
(2) It hit me recently that as I travel, it would be nice to know where people are around the country/world. (Here’s an example of how I used emails: I recently sent an email to some Southern California youth workers for a spontaneous lunch. Several showed up, we ate, laughed, talked, had a blast, and created some new networks.)
(3) Some of the events/opportunities that I link to on Twitter/Facebook aren’t for everyone–they are geographic specific ideas/opportunities. You will notice (below) that I’m not even requiring names (although I’d love them), but I am requiring a state or country or providence.
2 additional thoughts:
1. If you’re from California, enter in city too (i.e. CA, Lake Forest)
2. “Special Code” is for the moments when I’m speaking and I’ll say, “enter this code and I’ll email you XYZ.”
